Friction (Shogun Audio / BBC Radio 1 | UK)
Brighton raised, multi award winning Friction is one of the most revered and recognised names in bass music today.
Having risen steadily through the ranks since the 1990’s as arguably the most adept and most ferocious DJ/producer in the scene, Friction now holds court in the D&B Hall Of Fame thanks to his inauguration at the 2011 Drum & Bass Arena Awards.
Friction has a vast catalogue behind him and has worked with most of the major labels in D&B including Hospital and Metalheadz.
However it was in 2004 when he founded the now infamous record label Shogun Audio that really pushed the Friction name further into the musical limelight.
Whilst DJ’ing all over the world every weekend and heading up the juggernaut record label Shogun Audio Friction has achieved much commercial success but always keeps his feet firmly on the ground, recently announced as the new face of Radio 1’s flagship Drum & Bass show he is set for even more accolades in 2012 and beyond.
Friction also completed his debut mix album for Ministry Of Sound in 2010, dropped 2011′s summer smash ‘Someone’ ft Mclean and recent remix credits include Wretch 32 ‘Tractor’ and Example’s ‘Change The Way You Kissed Me’
Now with his latest single ‘Led Astray’ having achieved number 8 in the UK independent charts, after being playlisted on Radio 1 with support from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Fearne Cotton, MistaJam, Captol Radio and XFM and all of clubland, eyes are firmly focussed on Friction’s debut album currently in the making.
Described by Pete Tong as ‘one of the big dogs’Friction looks set to hit dizzying new heights in his career this year as he continues to trail blaze his way through the ever-evolving musical landscape.
So whether you’re catching his radio show or a DJ set anywhere from Glastonbury, EDC in LA, to Sydney or Toyko you’ll be sure Friction never disappoints.

Icicle (Shogun Audio / Rinse FM | UK)
Jeroen Snik – aka Icicle – is recognised as one of the most technically advanced and highly-respected producers in electronic music.
After commanding the attention of the masses with releases on labels such as Hospital Records, Soul:R, Renegade Hardware and Critical, Icicle made the move from Holland to London in 2008 and exclusively signed to Shogun Audio.
Following ground breaking singles including rolling d&b of ‘Dreadnaught’ to the deep dubstep of ‘Xylophobia’ Icicle dropped his debut album ‘Under the Ice’, in 2011 that saw him reach dazzling new heights, Icicle’s continued need to explore other electronic genres saw him mixing a Rinse FM album installment and releasing his deeply intense ‘BNC’ dubstep EP on Shogun. All the while his own Rinse FM show would go from strength to strength.
2013 heralded another hectic DJ’ing schedule which saw him play at some of the biggest clubs and festivals accoss Europe, Australia and the USA. After high profile remixes for the likes of Icona Pop and Noisia it was his pivotal track ‘Anxious’ that sealed the year as part of Shogun’s award-winning album compilation series ‘Way Of The Warrior 2’.
With his production levels regarded as some of the best in the business it isn’t surprising that the Icicle name has become synonymous with some of the best tech brands in the world. At the start of 2014 Icicle cemented this reputation releasing his very own patches as part of the brand new Molekular Modular unit by global market leading Native Instruments. Add to that his smash collaboration with Mefjus, ‘Contemporary’, and the year couldn’t be off to a better start. And with rumour of his sophomore album nearing completion this may well be his biggest year yet.
With a reputation as one of the most flawless and exceptional electronic producers of his time, there’s nothing else quite like the Icicle experience.

Adred (31 Records | Natural Selection | NY)
Born Adam Baker, son of a musically talented father and artistic mother, he was destined to be a great musician. Growing up listening to David Bowie, Eric Clapton and Thomas Dolby shaped his love for music at a young age. At the age of 16 Adam first heard Drum and Bass at a rave and wanted to replicate the energy and excitement he witnessed first hand. It wasn’t until years later when he had the opportunity to express it first by DJ’ing. At the age of 20, he bought his first set of turntables and a mixer. Quickly learning and understanding the techniques of mixing music, a year later he was given the opportunity to play out. He knew all along that he wanted to create his own music and that being a DJ wouldn’t be enough to set himself apart from rest of the world. Little did he know, that a chance meeting in a neighborhood record store would launch his career as a producer. He didn’t stop at Drum and Bass but ventured into Hip Hop, R&B, Techno, House and everything in between. He doesn’t believe in pigeonholing himself in one genre and always produces music by feeling and bpm. Currently he is working on multiple releases with Robert Manos in many different genres. Keep an eye out for him and these songs.
